Located in a historic gun shop next to the pond in the Waterfront Shops in Duck, a visit to Duck’s Cottage truly is an experience to savor. Owner Allen LeHew, a self-proclaimed java junkie, uses only the best coffee beans from a small roasting company in Lexington, Virginia.
Customers can choose from custom blends such as the Village Blend, Duck’s Cottage, Lightkeeper’s or Blackbeard’s Blend. Here you can also find international roasts from Ethiopia, Costa Rica or Malawi. Feel like a flavored roast? Try caramel, southern pecan or the shop’s bestseller, Coconut Crunch.
Specialty drinks like the Mucky Duck, the Nutty Duck and the Swam keep longtime customers coming back for more. Hot or iced espresso drinks are also available, along with herbal teas, lattes, biscotti and pastries. Aside from coffee, Duck’s Cottage is all about books. There is something for everyone in the bookstore. Here you will find a variety of genres – from fiction, non-fiction and cookery to children’s titles, books local in nature and titles that appeal to sports fans and travel buffs.
