Doggie heaven is the best way to describe this store, which moved from Kitty Hawk in 2011 to right across the street from Jockey’s Ridge. Sure there’s some things sold here that dogs would prefer didn’t exist --- like leashes and harnesses and bath supplies. The leashes and collars come in different sizes and some are guaranteed from destruction, including chewing. You can choose designer patterns, or college logos or OBX logos. Life jackets and doggie equipment like bowls and grooming gear are available. But mostly it is filled with doggie treats and a fantastic selection of dog toys. Because, after all, dogs come to the Outer Banks to play, too! There’s floating toys, (theoretically) indestructible toys, no-stuffing toys, squeaky toys, chewy toys, and lots of fetch toys. There are also bins and bins of homemade dog biscuits in different flavors that can purchased at the “biscuit bar.” The biscuits are made with human-grade ingredients and contain no salt, byproducts, artificial flavorings or preservatives. Baked fresh daily, the treats are available in various sizes. The store also offers biscuits for dogs with special dietary needs. A “bow-wow luau” is held weekly in the summer.
